The community work day for Watkinsville Woods is on Saturday, October 25th. To participate, you will need a shovel or rake and picks. The owners of Chappelle Gallery on South Main Street were present when the Watkinsville Woods project committee began to work. They are zoned as scenic corridor and their location is located on South Main Street. They allowed the committee to use their property, and they were gracious. We discovered Pulpit Rock near downtown as we explored the site. We are creating a trail to link to a larger trail network.

Volunteers can be found at Watkinsville Woods for those who love nature and live in the community. The work day starts at 8:30am and ends around noon. To do the job, we will need picks and shovels. The five-acre nature park is a great place to take a break from your busy schedule and enjoy the city’s beautiful setting. It is close to downtown and residential homes but still has a tranquil, private feel. It also has a historic spring. The entire area is a great place for hiking, biking, and birdwatching.

In addition to parks and nature centers, the community also offers many other activities. A community day of service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2010. You can volunteer any time between 9am and noon. Volunteers can bring shovels and rakes to the community. You can even volunteer to clear the land.
